MG Motor, or Morris Garages, is a British brand known for its sports cars and mini-cars. It was founded in 1924 by Cecil Kimber. Over the years, with its glorious history, ownership of the company changed hands in diversified commercial conglomerates to eventually become the property of China`s state-owned SAIC Motor. For the uninitiated, SAIC is the seventh largest automotive design and manufacturing company in the world. For iSmart capabilities for connected cars, MG Motor has partnered with various tech giants such as Microsoft, SAP, AccuWeather, Cisco, and Adobe. Internet services are activated with an eSIM from Unlimit, a Reliance Jio company, while browsing is managed by TomTom. In 2017, SAIC introduced the first all-new MG concept car in some time by unveiling the E-Motion at the Shanghai Motor Show. In June 2020, it was announced that MG would launch an electric sports car based on the E-Motion concept in 2017. It was later renamed MG Motor after Nanjing Automobile merged with Shanghai Automobile Industry Corporation (SAIC). In 2011, MG Motor launched a new model, the MG 6 in GT (saloon) and Magnette (saloon), which were the first new generation machine guns in the UK since the MG TF. BMH merged with Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968 to form British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC). The brand survived under BL after 1980 and was used in a number of Austin sedans, including the Metro, Maestro and Montego. In New Zealand, the MG badge even appeared on the Montego station wagon of the late 1980s, called MG 2.0 Si Wagon. After the collapse of the MG Rover Group in 2005, Chinese carmaker Nanjing Automobile acquired the Longbridge plant and the MG brand for £53 million ($97 million). MG cars have their roots in a 1920s promotional site of Morris Garages, a retail and service centre in Oxford owned by William Morris.
