Plant and Machinery Requirements

This initiative is designed to help contractors meet regulatory requirements to ensure winches are regularly inspected and certified safe. A photocopy of the current driver`s licence must be retrieved by the Director or his/her deputy and kept in the training material. Contractor licence requirements must be managed in accordance with the OHS Contractor Management Procedure. The term does not apply to all jobs. However, if you work in a dangerous environment, you need to take precautions. This is all the more important when dangerous machinery is used. For this reason, we should not underestimate the importance of plant maintenance and machine safety. The objective of this policy is to ensure that risks associated with equipment and equipment in schools are identified and managed. Some plants and equipment may have safety-critical characteristics when deterioration would pose a risk. You must have provisions in place to ensure that the necessary inspections take place.

Machines can cause injury in a variety of ways. Before introducing new machinery into your workplace, you should consider the risks involved. With existing machines, you need to carry out regular checks and evaluations to ensure that they remain safe. Additional hazards can arise when machines become unreliable and develop defects. Through maintenance, these defects can be diagnosed early to manage risks. However, maintenance must be planned and performed correctly. Unsafe maintenance has resulted in numerous fatalities and serious injuries, either during maintenance or during the use of improperly maintained or poorly maintained/repaired equipment. These procedures represent the minimum requirements for all plant and equipment activities performed by employees and contractors and are followed by university managers, employees, visitors, students and contractors. Any equipment found to be defective during the inspection must be isolated and must not be used or used until it has been repaired or replaced. Operators must report all defects and disturbances at each facility.

Regular monitoring and inspection is required to maintain the plant in accordance with applicable safety and performance standards. To do this, we look at the general requirements when working with construction equipment and how to stay compliant. Where necessary, the operator shall carry out daily and pre-commissioning tests of the plant and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer`s instructions and inspection and testing requirements. The results of the inspections shall be recorded in the logbook, register or appropriate form. See Bus Inspection Checklist, Equipment Pre-Use Checklist.4.3 Planned InspectionA full inspection of facilities and equipment should be conducted annually (recommended) or at other specified intervals. Inspections shall be carried out by a qualified person and shall comply with the manufacturer`s instructions and inspection and testing requirements. The results of the checks shall be recorded in the logbook, register or appropriate form.5. In the event of a sale or transfer of assets (including transfers between business units), supervisors/supervisors must ensure that risks arising from the condition of the asset are eliminated or, if reasonably not possible, controlled in accordance with the ALARP hierarchy of control. When selling or transferring used equipment (with the exception of equipment intended for use as scrap metal or as spare parts for other equipment), supervisors/supervisors must inform the purchaser or future owner of the installation of any defects found and, if necessary, indicate that the equipment should not be used until the defects have been remedied. All available information, such as logbooks, test/inspection reports, manufacturer`s instructions, etc., shall be made available to the new owner.6.

Persons involved in the commissioning, installation, use and testing, decommissioning, dismantling and disposal of the plant shall be provided with all available information on plant safety. All relevant information on emergency procedures relating to installations shall be provided in such a way as to be easily accessible to persons who may be exposed to risks arising from the operation of the installation. If the plant design has been assigned for work use, your organization must ensure that the person responsible for plant design receives all relevant plant information that may have an impact on safety. This information should include, inter alia: The contracting entity and/or its authorised representative shall ensure that a record of inspections and maintenance is kept for each installation and equipment.
